About Amy Chiang

From the time I can remember, I have loved art, design, and anything visually attractive to people. The journey began as I drew anything I saw around me. In a few years, I turned my casual sketching into a formal academic training program. That's when I realized that "appearance" is just the surface of what is really beautiful in life, in people, in products.

With my major in Communication Design, I have evolved from one-directional to two-directional thinking about design. Design is reasonable in terms of what viewers receive, but there is no right or wrong in the work itself either. It is intriguing and challenging, just like human communication. Even today, I am fascinated and frustrated by my design skills all the time, but the satisfaction of solving the problem and seeing the impact continues to be my primary motivation.

In order to further broaden my design horizon, I pursued my Master's degree in Web Design and New Media in San Francisco, where I practiced my proficiency in system scalability and business profitability in the digital world. Having a wide range of design experience in the last 10 years has also enabled me to handle complicated products. Now I work as a Senior Product Designer at a data-driven cybersecurity company, Lookout, where I define the future of the security products.
